METAMORPHOSIS OF
A BUTTERFLY
FINAL PROJECT
This is where you can find all my initial ideas, and sketches which stimulated the design process all the way through to the creation of my final garment, for my own chosen final project: 'Metamorphosis Of A Butterfly!'

My main form of inspiration for these final presentation sheets (for my final project) was drawing from direct observation; which allowed me to capture the beauty of each single stage of how a caterpillar makes it's mark, and transforms before your eyes, into a graceful butterfly.
I was aiming to capture this beauty through my drawings and design work, leading right up to my final fashion designs. And include these range of colours/patterns, which inspired me throughout this project to incorporate into the structure, and embellishment of my final garment.

Each of these sheets talk you through the order of a butterfly and allow you to see, at a glance, the overall life of a butterfly.

This was by far my favourite project, as exploring and getting first hand research was not easy at first. So i had to go out of my comfort zone to explore and get a basis of research photos and sources to inspire and allow my design work to develop from this primary research.

The project did not start off 'perfect' as i encountered many challenges and obstacles, (but ended up in the right direction).

During this process i also discovered how the decaying process works, and how creatures live and die; how this process affects all living organisms and creatures; big or small.
